What to Expect of Your Rental Coverage

Rental Reimbursement coverage helps pay for a rental car if your vehicle is damaged because of an accident due to a covered claim.

It is important to clarify that the length of time you can receive reimbursement for a rental car depends on your claim meeting certain conditions under the policy with the maximum not to exceed 30 days. We recommend reviewing your specific policy details to understand any potential limitations and how they may apply to your specific claim.

Rental Timing and Coverage Limitations

If your vehicle is still drivable, please wait to pick up your rental until all the ordered parts have been received and your car is in the shop for repairs. You should schedule your vehicle drop off for the beginning of the week. As your rental coverage is limited to a set number of days based on the estimated repair hours indicated on your vehicle’s appraisal, we want to help you minimize the potential out of pocket expenses.

Direct Billing

Though rental coverage is offered on a reimbursement basis, in most cases we can coordinate a direct bill reservation with select Rental Providers. The Rental Provider will contact you when the rental reservation is created. This ensures a smooth pickup, and you can discuss your individual pick up details with them. Keep in mind that some vehicles cost more to rent, and depending on your individual needs, you may need to cover any extra costs beyond what your individual policy limit allows.

Rental Updates and Extensions

After picking up your rental, you may receive updates from us including but not limited to repair progress, remaining rental days, and the rental vehicle return deadline.

If damages of your vehicle exceed the value and your vehicle is declared a total loss, rental coverage is limited to a set number of days after a settlement offer is given to you (5 calendar days if your vehicle is outright owned and 10 calendar days if you have a lienholder). In these situations, we recommend that you start making arrangements for the replacement vehicle right away to avoid any out-of-pocket cost.

Rental Costs and Responsibilities

Your rental coverage reimburses the cost of the rental vehicle, but not gas, mileage, secondary drivers, additional insurance, tolls, or any mechanical breakdown while the car is with you. Rental Vendor may also require a credit card hold, depending on their individual procedures.

We will let you know when your rental coverage ends. Please note, if you choose to keep the rental after our rental coverage ended, any further rental will be your out-of-pocket expense.

 Additional Insurance Waivers

The purchase of coverage waivers (additional insurance) from a rental company must be pre-approved or you may not be reimbursed for these costs.
